Increases in COVID-19 are unrelated to levels of vaccination across 68 countries and 2947 counties in the United States – European Journal of Epidemiology
At the country-level, there appears to be no discernable relationship between percentage of population fully vaccinated and new COVID-19 cases in the last 7 days (Fig. 1). In fact, the trend line suggests a marginally positive association such that countries with higher percentage of population fully vaccinated have higher COVID-19 cases per 1 million people. Notably, Israel with over 60% of their population fully vaccinated had the highest COVID-19 cases per 1 million people in the last 7 days. The lack of a meaningful association between percentage population fully vaccinated and new COVID-19 cases is further exemplified, for instance, by comparison of Iceland and Portugal. Both countries have over 75% of their population fully vaccinated and have more COVID-19 cases per 1 million people than countries such as Vietnam and South Africa that have around 10% of their population fully vaccinated.
USF researchers find chlorine dioxide gas 99.91% effective against COVID-19 virus – College of Public Health News
After one hour, there was a 99.91 percent reduction in the virus versus a non-treated control. After two hours, there was a 99.997 percent reduction.
“This work demonstrates that chlorine dioxide gas can be an effective disinfectant [allowing for] little to no exposure and rapid degradation of residuals,” Harbison said. “Relatively short fumigation of enclosed spaces, such as patient rooms, classrooms and inside ambulances and emergency vehicles, would allow for fast sterilization with less manual labor required of the cleaning staff. What’s more,” Harbison added, “chlorine dioxide is a gas and has the advantage of reaching places liquid disinfectants cannot, providing better efficacy for eliminating the virus.”

Rapid initiation of nasal saline irrigation to reduce morbidity and mortality in COVID+ outpatients
SARS-CoV-2+ participants initiating nasal irrigation were over 8 times less likely to be hospitalized than the national rate.

Study Reveals Declining COVID-19 Vaccine Efficacy Against Infection
Today’s report tracked the cohort through August 14—incorporating over four more months of data that include a time period in which the Delta variant swept the country—and found that overall, vaccine effectiveness dipped to 66 percent in the weeks when the variant accounted for at least 50 percent of SARS-CoV-2 viruses sequenced. What the study can’t answer is why effectiveness dipped in the weeks dominated by Delta.
[Preprint] Comparing SARS-CoV-2 natural immunity to vaccine-induced immunity: reinfections versus breakthrough infections
SARS-CoV-2-naïve vaccines had a 13.06-fold (95% CI, 8.08 to 21.11) increased risk for breakthrough infection with the Delta variant compared to those previously infected, when the first event (infection or vaccination) occurred during January and February of 2021.

Researchers in The Netherlands have warned that Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine induces complex reprogramming of innate immune responses
Researchers in The Netherlands and Germany have warned that Pfizer-BioNTech’s coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine induces complex reprogramming of innate immune responses that should be considered in the development and use of mRNA-based vaccines.
